Humbug nonsense (especially useful at Christmas) Hooey nonsense humbug (could be the title of my next book) Hogwash nonsense worthless idea (simple but effective for criticism) Oggin Naval Modern sailors slang for the sea it is said to be derived from Hogwash, though some assert that it comes from a mispronouncement of Ocean. bunkum claptrap crap hogwash rubbish trash bullshit noun(vulgar) nonsense. Grimgribber learned gibberish legal jargon (how bullshit reaches the next generation) As a slang term, shit has many meanings, including: nonsense, foolishness. Meaning 'Harley-Davidson motorcycle' is attested from 1967. As a term of opprobrium for a greedy or gluttonous person, c. is regarded by OED as 'improbable.' Extended to the wild boar by late 15c. To avoid repetition, to write in places that prohibit curse words, or just to be more descriptive, you need synonyms. Sometimes you can’t call bullshit by its name.
